Frequently Asked Questions
If you have any questions beyond the ones listed below, do not hesitate to reach out. We are happy to answer more questions or make clarifications.
When should my student start the college planning process?
It is ideal that families set up their initial college planning meeting by the spring of their student’s sophomore year. But plans are available for students as early as January of eight grade and as late as the summer before senior year.
Do you offer SAT/ACT prep?
August Consulting offers advising on the standardized testing process, including which test is best for your student and what timetable is best for taking tests. We do not offer content-based test preparation.
I am looking for help through the college planning process, but I am not sure if a full package is right for me. What should I do?
We understand that purchasing a full consulting package is a large commitment and may not be right for every family. We offer a complimentary 30 minute phone conversation to discuss your needs, and offer many free resources on this site to guide families through the process, including weekly blog posts, webinars, and info sessions.
My student is a rising senior. Can they still benefit from college consulting?
Yes! August Consulting offers a rising senior package that includes full consulting services on an expedited timetable.
How do I know which package is right for me?
Every student is different, so each package can be custom tailored to accomodate to specific needs. During an initial college planning meeting, recommendations for which plan to pursue can be given.
Where does the name "August Consulting" come from?
The business got this name for several reasons. August 1st is the day that the Common Application opens each year and it is the time that we buckle down with clients to complete the application process. August is also the month that students head off to college. It is Louise's favorite month because the beach is so beautiful and it is the month that she got married.
